1st XI

Captain's Welcome:

League Standings:

Training Times:

Mondays 20:00-22:00 at Wide Lane

Hi there, welcome to the page for the First XI. My name's Toby Miller and I'll be your captain for the year, with Tommy Cross and Josh Hanna helping out as your VCs. I'm really looking forward to a successful season, with promotion from our Hampshire 1 Saturday league being the priority. We are also aiming to finish strongly in our BUCS league that will see us play our 2nd XI, Southampton Solent 1s, Exeter 3s and 4s, and Bristol UWE 1s. As members of the First XI you'll be setting an example for the rest of the club and playing at a high standard.

I believe that first years need to be integrated into the team as quickly as possible to make things better for everyone. I know how important it is for everyone to be welcomed and respected immediately so that the team can play as well as possible.

With the return of last year's coach, Freddie, I'm really focused on performing well on the pitch, but we'll also be doing a lot of socialising off. The legendary club socials on a Wednesday are a great way to get to know everyone from the other teams and show off your non-hockey abilities while trying to maintain your dignity, and we'll also be doing plenty of team activities as well. We will do our best to show you the best and worst that Southampton has to offer.

Training will be 2 hours on a Monday night at Wide Lane, with other hockey and fitness sessions throughout the week.

Preseason will be held during fresher's week. Please feel free to send me or the club a message if you'd like to attend. The sooner you guys get involved in the team, the better. We're looking forward to hearing from you and having a successful season.
